Brooks & Dunn Call Out 'AI-Generated Falsehoods,' Urge 'Don’t Fall For It'

Brooks & Dunn posted a statement in response to “misinformation” stemming from AI-generated content.

“The internet’s gotten pretty wild lately,” the duo, made up of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, stated on Monday (October 20). They said it “seems like ‘AI’ [Artificial Intelligence] can make anybody say or do just about anything these days. We’ve seen fake tour announcements, fake albums, fake hospital stories, even fake movies and documentaries. There is an epidemic of misinformation being distributed to countless sites across the internet.

“We’re working non-stop to eliminate the problem, but the sheer volume is overwhelming,” Brooks & Dunn continued. “Unfortunately, we can’t control it all. Welcome to the era of ungoverned, AI-generated falsehoods.

“If you see something with our name or face on it that didn’t come straight from our verified official accounts, don’t fall for it,” they cautioned. “For now, good old common sense seems to be the most effective weapon against the crazies and the ‘machine.’”

Brooks & Dunn have become the latest artists to speak out against rumors spreading because of AI-generated content. Dolly Parton shared a video earlier this month to clarify concerns about her health, noting that an AI-generated image depicted Reba McEntire “at my death bed, and we both look like we need to be buried. I thought, ‘oh, my Lord!’” Parton said at that time, “there’s just a lot of rumors flying around, but I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was OK.”

McEntire shared a video of her own in response, saying “you tell ‘em, Dolly.” McEntire called out the “AI mess,” including the image that Parton was referring to, and another that depicts McEntire announcing a baby on the way. McEntire said, “both of us know you’re too young and I’m too old for any of that kind of nonsense. But you better know I’m praying for you, I love you with all my heart, and I can’t wait to see you soon. Love you.””
