Experts are predicting an above-average 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is forecasting a 60 percent chance of an "above-normal" hurricane season for the Gulf Coast.
NOAA is calling for between 13 to 19 named storms, six to ten hurricanes, and three to five major hurricanes of Category 3 strength or higher. National Weather Service Director Ken Graham blames the warm ocean waters, lack of wind shear and a neutral period between El Nino and La Nina.
Graham says despite proposed NOAA budget cuts, they're ready for the season and will even unveil model upgrades that will allow them to expand from 48 to 72 hours the issuing of cones, watches and warnings.
