Parker McCollum and his wife, Hallie Ray Light McCollum, have welcomed Baby No. 1.

The McCollums announced in a post on Instagram on Friday night (August 9) that their son, Major Yancey Tyler McCollum, was born on Thursday (August 8). McCollum commented: “Mom & Dad forever! I love you Hallie Ray and I love our Major Man!”

The “To Be Loved By You” star announced earlier this year that “Baby M” was on the way. Hallie said as she debuted her growing baby bump for the first time: “God’s little blessing. We Iove you so much already, Baby M!” The first-time parents followed the pregnancy announcement with a gender reveal, confirming that Baby M would be a “little cowboy.” Hallie, who recently debuted a glimpse of Major's cozy nursery, has shared glowing maternity photos throughout her pregnancy as she awaited her baby boy’s arrival. In late June, she marked about “8 months growing you.”

“It’s dope. I was watching Rose Bowl highlights, and I saw Major Applewhite, [current South Alabama Football head coach and former Texas quarterback],” McCollum said when he recently revealed his son’s name on The Spencer Graves Show. Graves shared a clip from the interview on Instagram and TikTok on July 23. “I was like, ‘damn, Major McCollum would be sick.’”

McCollum and his wife got married in 2022 in Tomball, Texas, the country artist’s home state. McCollum previously told PEOPLE that he “couldn't wait to ask her to marry me,” in July 2021. “There was no backup plan and no hesitation. I didn't overthink one thing. I was like, ‘It can't get any better than her.’ There was no doubt in my mind that I was making the right decision. She saved my life in a way. I don't think I was headed down the right road.” McCollum said, per his record label, after his first year of marriage that “your quality time is like the number-one thing that they [wives] really care about, at least mine [wife] does. …I have learned more than anything that is it my time that probably goes the furthest with her.”

McCollum is the latest country artist to welcome a baby in 2024. Others — including first-time parents and parents who have welcomed Babies No. 2, 3 and 4 into their families — include Kane Brown and his wife Katelyn Brown, Jon Pardi, Gabby Barrett, Jessie James Decker, Adam Doleac and more.
