Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert paid tribute to their friendship with one another and their accomplishments over the course of about two decades in music. The duo shared photos after Lambert attended Underwood’s ongoing Las Vegas residency — days after Underwood watched Lambert’s — on Instagram on Thursday (December 7).
Underwood recently kicked off her latest round of REFLECTION shows in Las Vegas, performing her career-spanning hits (and a few Christmas songs this time of year) in dazzling wardrobe pieces, breathtaking acrobatics and other stunning elements to the show.
“This show is so well thought out and it is a perfect reflection of her and what a career she has built,” Lambert said as she shared a few photos and videos on Instagram. “The lights, fire, music, production, sparkle’s and most importantly that voice. Carrie, you are an icon in every sense of the word. We’ve both been on this journey for 20 years and I’m proud of both of us for staying the course and dreamin’ big. ...Thanks for having me last night. Blown away. Literally. 😘Also y’all, last slide will take you to church! 🙌🙏”
Lambert shared a black-and-white photo with Underwood, followed by photos taken during the REFLECTION show and videos of Underwood’s performance. one slide captured Underwood’s rendition of her 2012 single, “Blown Away,” another shows Underwood standing in front of a burning vehicle as she belts her 2005 smash-hit, “Before He Cheats,” and the final slide is Underwood’s powerful “How Great Thou Art,” which appears on her 2021 gospel album, My Savior.
Underwood shared the same black-and-white snapshot with Lambert on Instagram as she paid tribute to their years-long friendship:
“We’ve both been at this thing for a while now…Seen a lot. Done a lot. Sang a lot. Through it all, it’s nice to know you’ve got great people in your corner! Thanks for coming to the show last night, Miranda! Cheers to Vegas and cheers to us for all we’ve accomplished and to whatever comes next! ❤️”
Underwood also attended Lambert’s residency, Velvet Rodeo, named as a tribute to a lyric in “Actin’ Up.” Lambert, who recently announced the dates of her final residency shows in 2024, included the track on Palomino last year, in addition to “Strange,” “Geraldine,” “If I Was A Cowboy,” B-52’s collaboration “Music City Queen,” and more.
“I feel like I’ve built a career on being feminine and still keeping a bada** edge, and I think that’s important and I felt like Velvet Rodeo would encompass that,” Lambert said during her exclusive iHeartCountry LIVE show at her Nashville bar last year, hosted by iHeartRadio’s Amy Brown. “(Velvet Rodeo) felt like my catalog as a whole, and it’s a line in the new song and it just felt very Vegas to me. …no one comes to Vegas to not have fun.”
