Garth Brooks To Receive Compassion Award

Sure, he admits to having "Friends In Low Places," but Garth Brooks is still a standup guy.

Garth has been selected to receive the first George H.W. Bush 'Points of Light Award for Caring and Compassion.'

The award honors those who find solutions to the world's toughest challenges and exemplify the traits of the 41st president of the United States. Garth fits the bill and is being honored for his work within his Teammates for Kids initiative, as well as, his involvement with Habitat for Humanity.

Garth shared his appreciation in a statement with the press saying, "An award is only as good as its recipient – my hope and goal is to make the Bush family and the Honorary Chairs proud that Garth Brooks is the first name on this award for caring and compassion."

The award ceremony will take place on Sept. 26th at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City.
