Brantley Gilbert Was Afraid to Call Lindsay Ell About Collaboration

Brantley Gilbert has been hard at work on a new record for almost two years now. Today he shared the first taste of the new album with a collaboration from him and Lindsay Ell called "What Happens In A Small Town."

Gilbert and Ell stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to share the story behind the song and their lives during and after the collaboration. Gilbert said the song was written with songwriters on the road with him and throughout the whole writing process, the song leaned towards a duet. Ell received a call from the popular record executive Scott Borchetta asking her to be on the song because Gilbert was too afraid she might say no.

Understandably Gilbert was worried because this is his first ever duet so he wanted the right person and the right situation. Things worked out perfectly and Ell not only sang but played guitar on the song. Ell's guitar solo was so incredible in the studio it inspired Gilbert all on its own via a Facetime.

Gilbert and Ell will both be featured on the music video for the collab coming out soon and they teased the possibility that they may tour together at some point in the future. Watch the full interview below!
