If you are one of those people scheduling flights anytime soon, beware! The Better Business Bureau warns there are scam artists targeting so-called “trusted traveler” programs in hopes of catching unsuspecting people off guard and getting their personal information.
According to the BBB, these online thieves are designing websites that look just like the official TSA Precheck and Global Entry sites in the U.S. They have branched into Canada as well by replicating the NEXUS site.
If you click on the counterfeit website, you'll be asked to provide all the information you would expect to provide in the process including your full name, passport number and home address. You are then prompted to pay $140 for TSA fee.
Make sure you double check the URL. Government sites in the U.S. end with “.gov.” Canadian government sites end with “gc.ca.” and the address should start with "https://" and include a lock icon on the purchase page
